A while ago, I had bought two Behringer BCF mixers with the intention of using them as a 16 channel mixer. This method appears to be a pretty awesome result.
Being able to freely create channels and have them update, as well as being able to manually change channel banks and have all mixers update as one is exactly what the mixers would be doing in a normal cascading way. This is pretty standard, right? Now, theres a catch. At this point i tried some different aproaches: 1 — Define full remote overrides for each channel.
I worked like this for some time. This is tedious, because you will have to do this for all your projects, and you only be able to control 16 channels. This works. At that time, i had a lot of help because several people on the Beta forum explained me how remote files worked and there were also other guys trying to achieve this. Ok, so i started checking out the configuration of the in the BCF remote file, and found it had groups configurated. The group feature is used all over the place in the remote files.
So, then i found that if i tried this in record in the mixer, this would work too, so the group functionality works also in record at least in the mixer. Next step is to go to the ssl mixer definitions and define the groups just like in the mixer. The only diference, is that the second group will beand not Select faders definition, copy and paste right at the bottom.
You have to connect the faders to the groups. Copy the channel group definition Chn and paste it in the end of faders 1 to 8. I advise you to copy this from the section, because the remote files formating is a bit strange…. Map Fader 1 Channel 1 Level Ch Map Fader 8 Channel 8 Level Ch Map Fader 1 Channel 9 Level Ch Map Fader 8 Channel 16 Level Ch Though… Unless you disable and re-enable them you wont see the changes.
Press right button in the master channel and lock them to the ssl. At this point the second bcf will detach itself from the first and all faders will reset to 0. Go to Properties, remote override mapping.
At the end you will find the Next and previous 8 base channel controls.Even if you don't have a BCF, this patch allows you to replicate it onscreen. The patch allows you to control other MIDI devices just as if you did have the hardware controller. Use the umenu to select the port to which you want to transmit, then use the emulator patch to send MIDI control messages.
If you do have a BCF, this patch can show any changes you make on the hardware controller. Ensure that the MIDI port chosen in the umenu in the patch corresponds to the port on which you have the hardware controller connected. This patch assumes that you're using the factory preset No. Conversely, any change you make to the dial s, button s, or slider s in this patch will be transmitted to, and replicated on, the hardware controller. The patch is set to open in Presentation mode.
To see the contents of the patch, take the patch out of Presentation mode, unlock the patch i. You can see that ctlin and ctlout objects are being used to receive and transmit the MIDI data.
A series of route objects routes each type of control message from ctlin to the appropriate dialbuttonor slider in the patch. Because we're assuming factory preset No.
The output of those user interface objects gets combined with the proper controller number and channel number and is transmitted via the ctlout object.
It might be a burden to keep track of all these MIDI controller numbers in other parts of a more complicated Max patch. So, for that reason, see the example " Behringer BCF router ", which shows how you could use intuitive names such as button1 to route the MIDI data to the desired objects in a main patch.
To use that router patch, you will need to save this patch file with the name "BCF Skip to main content. Behringer BCF emulator. Encoder 5 sets the device id, if you are using only 1 device the id should be set to ID 1. I had to program it from the midi implementation chart in the quick start guide. This of course includes the FCB. I don't see any reference to it on the Wiki either. Could you provide a link? And since the full-featured XR18 also supports the Mackie Control protocol, you easily apply comprehensive remote editing and parameter adjustments via any compatible MIDI devices.
Unfortunately that does not help me. I am hoping to control the mixer standalone with MCU mode. That post is about controlling the software. Maybe that is the only way that it works. Michal or anyone else from behringer care to comment? Hi, Here is a link that might help some.
